Sono state finalmente annunciate le nomination per gli Emmy 2014, la cui cerimonia di premiazione si svolgerà il 25 agosto 2014 al Nokia Theatre di Hollywood, a Los Angeles. Tante conferme e pochissime novità, mentre ovviamente non sono mancate le puntuali polemiche per chi è rimasto fuori.

Come sempre, sono state le reti cable a sbancare il botteghino, grazie all’indubbia predilezione che l’Academy nutre per i prodotti di tali network. Da segnalare in particolare l’ottimo bottino di Game of Thrones, che porta a casa ben 19 nomination in totale. Subito dietro si piazza Fargo con 18 candidature, mentre Breaking Bad fa un’uscita col botto: 17 nomination per la serie tv che si è conclusa quest’anno.
Le reti generaliste riescono a difendersi solo con gli ormai noti pezzi forti, quali Modern Family e The Big Bang Theory, così come resiste il gioiellino britannico Downton Abbey.
Sorprende l’esclusione di Homeland dalla categoria di Miglior Serie Drammatica, dopo i trionfi delle due passate edizioni. Forti polemiche anche per la mancata considerazione di The Good Wife, che tuttavia ha trovato parziale riscatto nelle nomination dei suoi due attori principali, Julianna Margulies e Josh Charles. Stessa sorte per il campione di ascolti The Walking Dead, che ha trovato apprezzamento solo sotto il profilo degli effetti speciali e del trucco. L’eclusione che più di tutte ha fatto infuriare, però, è quella della straordinaria Tatiana Maslany, interprete di almeno cinque personaggi differenti nella serie tv sci-fi Orphan Black. A dispetto di un talento indiscutibile, l’attrice è stata ignorata per il secondo anno consecutivo.
